The love story between the siren and the seafarer
siren
/sigh-ren/ • noun
Edgy mermaid, enchanting in nature and known to charm seafarers.
seafarer
/sea-fair-er/ • noun
Knowledgable mariner with a long history of working at sea.
James and I met while working in head office for an Australian cruise line. James was Fleet Operations Manager, and I was Marketing Manager. Bonding over our love for the ocean and freediving, we hit it off. Fastforward a few years and now we are engaged, have bought a yacht together, and are ready to embark on the journey of a lifetime.
Our boat 'Tookawile'
Tookawile is a steel boat; a 40ft Adams.
She was built-in Two Rocks, WA, by a couple who were meticulous. They took 20 years to build her (hence the name). She was then officially launched in 2002 and sailed over from Fremantle to Cairns, out to the Solomons and then later sold to her second owner who cherished her for 17 years. Then in February 2024, James and I became the proud new owners.

Our Journey Ahead
It's hard to plan when living onboard a sailboat, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and our developing sailing skills. However, the intentions are to sail up and down the Australian East Coast for the next year or so. As we plan a wedding and a future together, we know the ocean will always be in our life. At this stage, we are loving the journey and want to be liveaboard sailors for the foreseeable future!
